As someone who is constantly on the go and in a rush, there are times where I am forgetful and need specific files from my computer that I do not have at the moment. There is an application called "TeamViewer" that allows you to work on your home computer through another computer; however, only if the computer at home is turned on. This is useful and all, but for those like me who are constantly forgetful and nobody is at home to turn on the computer, I propose that there should be a new media application that allows you to use a third party computer viewer. This application would first download everything on your home computer an then upload it onto a online storage. This allows you to view your computer documents from wherever you are which makes it much more practical than just using TeamViewer. This technology could really benefit those who are constantly on the go and do not want to carry around a laptop and etc. The mobile and desktop access can provide extreme ease to everyone who possesses it.

  2. Hi Kevin,

I think that this is an amazing idea! Having a new media like this would combine so many databases and resources into one so it is easier to find files and work on it from different location and any devices. This system also seems like it will be more efficient. I also do agree with you that this will be very helpful to everyone . Great idea!

  3. Hey Kevin,

Do you have a Macbook by any chance? If so, you can use icloud drive and then easily view documents across devices, and even be able to airprint papers at the library! If not, I'm always on Google Drive to back up my files no matter where I am. It's a great app for mobile, even with spreadsheet files.

  4. This feature is already implemented with apple products and has been a great blessing. I can write an article on my laptop, and just leave my house and open the same article on my iPhone or iPad.

Privacy

New media has provided a great sense of mass communication for people all around the world; however, this does spark a major issue in today's society. That major issue is privacy and confidentiality. When a social media account is created, users are typically asked for private information regarding their personal biography, lifestyle and family and friends. In almost all of these new media, you are given the option of whether or not you want only your friends to see it, or you want the entire social media community to be able to see it. Over the years, many users are claiming that their privacy is not so "private" anymore considering that there are many loopholes for others to be able to learn about your private information. You can always use a friends account to view this person's private information and because of that, it defeats the purpose of a private account. Confidentiality is another issue considering that nothing is confidential. A private group on Facebook...

Blog: Social Networking Sites

In today's society, everyone uses at least one if not more of the top four social networking sites. The top four social networking sites are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. They each present a unique environment where users are able to find their needs, interact with family and friends, and keep themselves updated with world news. These four social networking sites operate in a similar fashion; however, they each present features that allow them to be special and constantly used. Facebook, the first social networking site to reach 1 billion active users, is considered the leader of these four social networking site has evolved tremendously over the years. Starting off as just a simple communication platform to connect family and friends has grown into a multi-billion dollar company where they partner with other companies to distribute ads, publish worldwide news, live stream important events and so much more. The communication aspect of Facebook has transcended from a...

Creativity and New Media

At the beginning of this current fall semester, I was apart of VSA (Vietnamese Student Association) where I am on the executive board as the Vice President of Marketing. As the VP of Marketing, I am constantly on the hunt for new, innovative and most importantly creative ideas. My goal is to be able to spread the word of this club out as much as possible and during this process, there are multiple components to it. One of the major components of this club was their website. Every year, the website gets revamped and this year, it was my task to tackle that and redesign the website to make it as appealing as possible. The platform that the website is located on is "Squarespace" where it does not require any difficult coding skills, but instead creativity and ingenuity. When creating and designing the entire website, it is simply applying templates or making your own and selecting your own preferred pictures. Now building the website was not all fun and games, but throughout t...
