As someone who is constantly on the go and in a rush, there are times where I am forgetful and need specific files from my computer that I do not have at the moment. There is an application called "TeamViewer" that allows you to work on your home computer through another computer; however, only if the computer at home is turned on. This is useful and all, but for those like me who are constantly forgetful and nobody is at home to turn on the computer, I propose that there should be a new media application that allows you to use a third party computer viewer. This application would first download everything on your home computer an then upload it onto a online storage. This allows you to view your computer documents from wherever you are which makes it much more practical than just using TeamViewer. Over the past couple weeks, I began to perform research and decided to contribute to the "Sport" section where I will be adding on a new topic which is Tennis. More specifically, I would like to perform a detailed analysis of how Tennis as a sport has grown in popularity because of social media. Sporting brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Uniqlo have all decided to select certain tennis players to become their brand ambassadors and in order to market their brand and products successfully, these companies utilize the players social media. What exactly is file sharing? Well file sharing is the practice or ability to transfer a file through the internet or network to another computer. The purpose of this is so that one could transfer the file to another and provide them the opportunity and capability to view or edit this file. File sharing has been widely used across the world for every individual who has access to a computer. P2P file sharing, also known as peer to peer, allows users to share files and digital media over the internet or through a P2P software. It is not just an ordinary word document type of sharing, but actually the ability to share movies, music, games and books where ordinary file sharing would not allow. Examples of P2P sharing are softwares such as Limewire, FrostWire, Gnutella, Emule and so on. New media has provided a great sense of mass communication for people all around the world; however, this does spark a major issue in today's society. That major issue is privacy and confidentiality. When a social media account is created, users are typically asked for private information regarding their personal biography, lifestyle and family and friends. In almost all of these new media, you are given the option of whether or not you want only your friends to see it, or you want the entire social media community to be able to see it. Over the years, many users are claiming that their privacy is not so "private" anymore considering that there are many loopholes for others to be able to learn about your private information. You can always use a friends account to view this person's private information and because of that, it defeats the purpose of a private account. As hired to improve Baruch College, I believe that new media is one of the most impactful tools that can better the university. I suggest that Baruch College starts making a blogging site as well to relate and interact with their students. As proven throughout the semester, blogs have demonstrated an environment where fellow classmates are able to bond and understand one another's point of view on different situations. In addition, this allows Baruch College to actually listen to their students and see what they can do to improve the university, or what resource should be provided in order to have students enjoy their time better. There are over 15,000 students here at Baruch and by being able to just hear from them, this will truly improve the university as a whole and provide insightful feedback regarding the university. At the beginning of this current fall semester, I was apart of VSA (Vietnamese Student Association) where I am on the executive board as the Vice President of Marketing. As the VP of Marketing, I am constantly on the hunt for new, innovative and most importantly creative ideas. My goal is to be able to spread the word of this club out as much as possible and during this process, there are multiple components to it. One of the major components of this club was their website. Every year, the website gets revamped and this year, it was my task to tackle that and redesign the website to make it as appealing as possible. Ever since the creation of new media, this has allowed users and content creators all across the globe to be able to express their opinions and their work as well. New media has created a plethora of social media platforms and with the additions of applications like Photoshop, Premier and other editing visual apps, this has pushed content creators to work hard and produce better content. As a result of this, new media is able to foster creativity because creating the content is one thing, but being able to publish and show the worldwide is another. A virtual world is essentially a place where imaginations come to life. Creating a virtual world enables you to express your opinion and creativity to manifest to society a possible utopia or fantasy. The virtual world already exists in a plethora of children related games and one of the most noticeable one is "Minecraft". Minecraft is a computer game where kids are able to use building block to form a map and create objects to establish a virtual world never seen before. Twitter has created a place where users are able to express their opinions on all matters around the world. Whether it is a political related opinion, controversial topics or even personal statuses, it is a site for people to post all about that. They are able to voice their comment on certain issues to the society where everyone is able to see it. Now for this New Media class, we operate on two couple different blogging platforms which are "Blackboard Discussions" and "Twitter".
